till 12/02/2010
A historical talk will be delivered by Medical Historian and Author Professor C. Savona-Ventura. This will review the Medical Aspects of the 1565 Great Siege of Malta. Siege warfare during the Late Medieval and Early Modern World Periods was very much dependant on the health conditions prevalent in the opposing warring forces. The besieged and the besiegers were highly dependant on having good medical care not only to treat wounds sustained during battle but also good backup public health measures to ensure their general health, nutrition and wellbeing.
