Standardised Assessment Evaluates Medical Students’ Competence at Prescribing Medications
A new study describes a standardised assessment that ensures that students who graduate from UK medical schools have achieved a minimum standard of knowledge and skill related to prescribing medications. Following the introduction of the Prescribing Safety Assessment, as described in a new article published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, the vast majority of final-year medical students are able to accurately prescribe medications, but a small proportion require further training or supervision before being able to prescribe independently.

The role of NSAIDs in colorectal cancer prevention: a literature review
Abstract
Inflammation has long been associated with cancer. COX enzymes play an integral role in inflammation. NSAIDs act on COX enzymes to reduce inflammation. The efficacy of NSAIDs was considered in cancer prevention and on survival thereafter. Aspirin was found to be the most superior NSAID but it also prolonged the survival of cancer patients and provided anti-thrombotic protection.
Hepatitis
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver and can have different causes. Viral hepatitis is caused by five different types of viruses, type A to type E. However, types A, B and C are the most common. The prognosis includes liver cancer, cirrhosis, extreme fatigue, vertigo and jaundice.
